Indian Teens Getting Richer
Results from a joint study conducted by Coca-Cola India and research firm NFO-MBL among Indian teenagers showed that teenagers have more money than before, jumping from an average of Rs 284 to Rs 375 this year. Participants reported that they spend their money on grooming and hanging out, but the most money is going towards food and beverages like ice cream and soft drinks. Indian teens are also buying more electronic products.
When asked what the best things about being a teenager, Indian teens agreed with US teens by saying friends and freedom, but disagreed with Americans by listing college third in the list of likings, which ranks very low on U.S. teens’ lists. When asked what the most important aspect of life is, teens in different cities responded differently: In Delhi, looks are treasured, while Kolkattans value character and Bangloreans cherish hard work.
