Kalbadevi bicycle shops are experiencing a new spurt in sales with at least 25 new customers a day buying bikes, a cheap and convenient alternative to cars in the congested city of Mumbai. Shops offer bikes for anyone from toddlers to professionals, and some even include games for kids like cricket and Scrabble. One bicycle manufacturer, Hero, has even used celebrities like Sanjay Dutt, Rani Mukherjee, and Hrithik Roshan to help promote their bikes. Prices range from Rs 1,450 for bikes for kids to Rs 125,000 for a Mercedes-Benz bike.
