Media reports say that India may have to play the qualifying round of the ICC Champions Trophy if it can’t improve its ODI standing. Currently, India are at the seventh spot in the ICC ODI Championship table and will have to move one position higher for direct entry into the event. Otherwise, India will have to enter into a round robin tournament for the remaining two spots in the championship. With the championship to be held in India next year, it would be embarassing if the host country’s team isn’t even eligible to play.
