In response to the Indian government’s aim to make the country a larger oil exporter, oil giant Shell has announced that it may build a refinery in India, the first of its kind by a major global oil company. Meanwhile, Essar Oil will build a refinery capable of producing 210,000 barrels a day. Domestic demand for oil has decreased, but Indian companies like Hindustan Petroleum Corp and Bharat Petroleum Corp are expanding in order to meet the demands of the international market.
