Police Admit to Tapping Salman Khan’s Phone in 2001

After much speculation and the release of a conversation between Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai, Maharashta Government confirmed today that police tapped Khan’s phone after receiving information that he had made calls to underworld gangster Abu Salem. Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil stated that police monitored Khan’s phone between August and October of 2001, and also confirmed that both Khan and Rai had provided samples of their voices to determine whether or not it actually is their voices on the released tape, an allegation that they both deny.

Meanwhile, Khan’s new film Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya is running to capacity crowds in India, and moviegoers seem to love him as much as ever. One claimed he “doesn’t believe anything that is being said about Salman Khan,” and others said his new movie is “well made and funny.” Another fan was quoted as saying “Leave your brains out when going to see it.”
