A recent study shows that Delhiites spend more of their income on transportation, rent, and entertainment than people in any other Indian city. The report showed that the per capita annual expenditure in Delhi was Rs 51,664, compared with a national average of Rs 20,999. Delhiites spend 37.75 percent of their income on food and the rest on transportation, rent, and entertainment, while people in rural areas spend most of their money on cereal, milk, and electricity.
