Interracial Marriages On the Rise in India
Though they’ve become somewhat commonplace in America, interracial marriages are still a rarity in India. Zofeen Maqsood reports on Indian interracial marriages in the July 2005 issue of Little India, focusing on relationships such as Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chief executive of Biocon, and her marriage with her American husband John Shaw. Interracial couples say the cultural differences add “spice” to the marriage. Supermodel Madhu Sapre talks about how she once felt that she could never marry a foreigner, someone who “doesn’t speak Marathi or doesn’t believe in Ganesha,” but now she and her Italian husband Gian Maria converse about India mythology while on long drives around Italy.
Other Indians dismiss interracial marriages by saying that the rush of dating someone from a different culture will eventually fade, and the forced adoption of their partner’s culture is easier said than done.

many models like madhu Sapre- who I am of the understanding is the supermodel of India have a forward way of thinking.
When you google it-other models have had relationships with foreigners such as priyadarshini pradhan, achala Sachdev and milind soman who is seeing a french woman. Then there are the models that have been created out of the union of cross cultures such as Naomi campbell, Colin Mathura-jeffree and Rina Kaif- all famous and all perfectly exotic, and famous throughout many countries.
It is easier said then done if you relate to the human experience and allow the goodness in.

I appreciate diverse cultures and respect them. The world now is a global village and we are exposed to different people through interaction and education, however i live in a country (Uganda) where they are indian women that i admire so much; their beauty, intelligence and discipline.
