Sun Microsystems to Invest in India

Pleased with its performance in the Indian market, Sun Microsystems has identified India as one of the four countries slated for “major investments,” joining Beijing, St. Petersburg, and Prague. Sun has invested $150 million in India since 1998, and says that further expansion would “only accelerate” revenues for the U.S.-based company. Sun enjoyed a 28 percent growth in revenues in during Fiscal Year 2005, and also added 164 new customers, solidifying its position at the top of the non-x86/Unix server vendor in India. The company recruited 400 new employees last year and expects similar growth in the future.
