Should Rahul Dravid replace Sourav Ganguly ?

This is a million dollar ( or Rupees, I should say ) question which is haunting everybody associatedwith Indian cricket, be it players, selectors , supporters, sponsors or just plain and simple Indian fans.

The final result of the team does not depend on the performance of the captain alone , at the same time, captain needs to see and take care of other aspects carefully to achieve victory.

True. The captain must set the tone for the rest of the team, or else things fall apart.

Personal opinion varies but during a talk show in Dubai, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram remarked that Sourav is a wrong choice and India should correct the mistake by replacing Sourav by Rahul. The former left-arm pacer made it clear that it is not personal but simply from the game of cricket angle , he said, “I have always backed Sourav, but this time around he looked pretty ordinary out there in Zimbabwe where India is playing a Test series. There is nothing wrong if he is changed. This I am saying purely on cricketing grounds.”

Translation: Hell yes I think he should be replaced, and preferably by me!

Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer, who was also in the panel, said he felt Indians should start believing in themselves.

Yeah, he would say that, wouldn’t he?

But Navjot Singh Sidhu , cricketer-turned-commentator-cum-politician, was not in favor of captaincy change. Keeping in mind India’s defeat in the tri-nation tournament in Sri Lanka,where Rahul Dravid was captain, Navjot Singh Sidhu pointed out, “That’s being too harsh on Ganguly. Don’t mistake emotions for progress. Dravid was given a chance to lead the team, but the result was the same. A change in the captaincy is not the solution. The solution lies in the mindset of players. They have got to change their thinking, be more positive and believe in their abilities.”

And a good captain can get them to that place! For the sake of Indians everywhere, bring up Rahul Dravid to captain.

    RAHUL SHOULD HAVE REPLACED SOURAVE LONG BACK.
    IN FACT SOURAVE SHOULD BE DROPPED FROM THE TEAM.
    HE WAS NEVER A GOOD CAPTAIN/PLAYER
    THE MEDIA HAS CREATED MUCH HYPE ABOUT OUR CRICKETERS.
    ANY CRICKETER CAN SCORE AS MUCH RUNS IF GIVEN AS MUCH CHANCE TO PLAY THE GAME WITH AS MUCH MONEY.
