“You don’t talk about Ganguly, you don’t know Ganguly, you’ve never heard of Ganguly”

India cricket board gags players

According to IOL, Indian cricketers have been asked by the board to “apply restraint” and not talk about the Ganguly/Chappell feud until the board selections have all taken place. The stories coming out of our squad have been so contradictory and conveluted lately, that this only adds to the suspicion.

IOL:

The rift came into the open in Zimbabwe when Ganguly told the media he was asked to step aside before the first Test in Bulawayo to make room for an in-form batsman.

Ganguly made a hundred in that game and Chappell then said he had only wanted to motivate him.

According to media reports, however, Chappell has since told the board in an email that Ganguly, India’s captain since 2000 but struggling for form, should be replaced as captain.

The BCCI’s statement came after spinner Harbhajan Singh praised his captain and criticised Chappell in an interview with the Press Trust of India on Sunday.

Just another strange chapter in the continuing Ganguly/Chappell Saga. Does anybody else find it odd how much of this is unfolding via various emails? Either way I’ll be interested to find out what the selectors choose.
