Sania slams Zvonareva, slides into semis

In an impressive showing of power, speed, and perseverance, Sania Mirza upset Vera Zvonareva to advance to the semi-finals of the Japan Open. Zvonereva, ranked 22 in the world, was the top seed at the event, and only recently fell from the #9 world ranking.

To win the match, Sania had to come back from a crippling 5-7 loss in the first set. The Indian tennis star battled back with two blistering sets, resulting in the two successive wins she needed (6-2 and 6-4).

Sania Mirza had defeated Aiko Nakamura 6-1 6-4 in the second round while Zvonareva beat Shahar Peer of France 6-3 7-5 to make it to the last eight.

After defeating the top seed, we all have very high hopes for Sania! Good luck in your next match!
