Fresh from a demoralizing defeat in the semi-finals of the Japan Open, Sania Mirza advances to the second round of the Thai Open. Sania absolutely obliterated Slovakian opponent Henrieta Nagyova in three fast paced sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-0) to advance to the next round of the $200,000 event.

“The first match is always tough as we are coming from different tournaments and it is hard to adjust,” Mirza said after the match.

Apparenlty, Mirza adjusted just a wee bit better than Nagyova. Even though she did not advance past the quarter finals in Japan, her rank has gone up to an all time high of 31st in the world.
