Indian cuisine taking off in Vegas

Indian fare is spreading, and in a big way. This year, the best meal in Las Vegas, a city known world wide for its gambling, 5 star hotels, and fine dining, is an Indian spread at the World Gourmet Summit. Unlike typical Indian restaurants abroad, this special spread aims to showcase the diversity of Indian fare.

Indian gourmet food, as it is known to the rest of the world, does not reflect the diverse cuisines of the country. It is still very much stuck in the tandoori chicken and butter masala gravy mould,” Oberoi complains.

For desis and for everyone else, the perfect way to celebrate Las Vegas’s 100 year anniversary is with some real Indian cooking. Oh, and if you were wondering about the price of the special meal: The Taj Mahal Dinner itself is a five-course sit-down meal for 80 guests at $250 per diner.

One little irony I noticed in the article:

But how is it that despite all this, Amaya, an Indian restaurant in London, was voted the best eatery of UK this year?

Best eatery in the UK, eh? That must have been a real challenge! News flash, the only good eateries in the UK are all Indian. You can’t even get a bowl of spaghetti done right in London.

We got so fed up of being invited to friends houses and enduring the English version of Indian food that we now teach and/or supply Indian cooking.
