A very nice interview with the very talented and striking Thara over at expressIndia.com Thara recently won the award for Best Actress, the most coveted spot in the world of Bollywood.

In fact, initial news of her ‘‘being in the race’’ for the Best Actress Award really didn’t make her sit up. ‘‘They said the same for my role in P Seshadri’s Munnudi and later for Girish Karnad’s Kanooru Heggadathi. By this time I had no hope left,’’ says Thara who briefly stayed with author Mustak to learn about “Muslim mannerisms” and even ‘‘read the Koran’’ to help her get into the skin of the role.

Her pessimism proved her wrong when while shooting in Mysore, news of her achievement reached her. ‘‘During a lunch break on the sets, some villagers had invited me to a nearby Parvati temple. I simply broke down there. It was unbelievable!’’ she recounts.
