Soon, Sri Lankan ace Kumara Sangakkara had the Indians on the run with a career high century of 138. The Indians were down and chasing a hard target (299). But then, Mahendra Singh Dhoni shocked the entire stadium with a phenomenal 183-run performance, decimating bowler after bowler and hitting an unprecedented 15 boundaries. By the end of it, the Indians had won the match by an impressive six wickets. The final score was Sri Lanka: 298 India: 303.

This match proved that India is a versatile team. They can win with their spinners, they can win with their batters. The team that was once the underdogs going through tough times is now the undisputed favorite in this blistering bout vs. the polished Sri Lankan team.
