Bollywood catching on in Canada

Found an interesting post by Larry at Larry Hnetka Goes HMmmm where he talks about the appeal of Bollywood music videos:

In Vancouver, we often see Bollywood music videos. Elaborate costumes, designs, a cast of hundreds and imaginative dance moves. Of course all sung in various Indian dialects. I watch just for the spectacle of it all. After a few hours though I find myself starting to understand the lyrics!

This blog entry over at Bollywood.nl talks about the Bollywood comedy Neal ‘n Nikki. What? You can’t read Dutch? Well, basically the entry talks about how Neal n’ Nikki is the first Bollywood film that is shot entirely on location in the country it’s set in, i.e. Canada. They then go on to postulate that this was a conscious decision, because of the high Desi population of Canada. The producers might hope to gain more of an audience abroad from this tactic.
