India/Pakistan: Two draws, one to go

Thanks again to India’s batting, the second test match vs. Pakistan has ended in a tame draw.

Resuming at the overnight score of 441 for five, Dhoni and Pathan kept tormenting Pakistan by scoring runs quite easily before Danish Kaneria brought an end to the record 210-run partnership by sending back Dhoni.

Overnight not out batsmen Dhoni and Pathan increased their sixth wicket record partnership against Pakistan to set a new benchmark of 210 runs, sending the nearly two decade-old mark of 143 between Mohammed Azharuddin and Kapil Dev made at Kolkata in 1986-87 to the scrap heap before the former fell for a superb 148.

The 24-year-old wicketkeeper was stumped by his Pakistani counterpart Akmal with the Indian batsman stranded yards out of his crease off Danish Kaneria whom he had whacked for three huge straight-field sixes yesterday during his attacking knock that rescued India from a difficult situation.

His attacking knock took the wind out of Pakistan’s sails when the hosts seemed like heading towards ascendancy.

Gah! Test cricket is sooo lame. Please, let’s get to the ODI so we can see some real excitement.
